Suppose you take a snap with your digital camera and wish to see it in your laptop but cannot do so. If such thing happens, you must understand that the problem is with the USB port of your laptop. It is not necessary that you have to call a technical support online professional for fixing the malfunctioning of the ports.There are numerous ways of troubleshooting this problem to make the port function like before. Here are some steps mentioned below to help you in resetting the functionality of your port.Fixing USB Port of LaptopFirst of all, use a different USB port of your laptop or a different computer altogether to connect your USB devices in order to ensure that the problem is not with your device but with the port. Is the device working fine in a different port? If not, examine whether there is a 'Write-Only' tab. Push the tab in the unlocked position when the device fail to work in another port. If needed, you can also seek for professional computer help.If by chance you see that the USB device functions well in some other computer and not on your own laptop, click Start - My computer. You must check whether the USB port is displayed in the listing of drives after you have plugged in an USB device. Doesn't the driver appear? Click Map Network Drive. From drop-down menu, you have to select a driver letter and double click on USB device's location. When you are done click OK and try using the port once again.Go back to the Start menu - click Control Panel - double click Device Manager. Then scroll down and click "+" sign on the left of the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Double click on the USB port's name appearing on the menu, then click Drivers - Update Drivers. You have to wait until the driver finishes downloading and uses the port again.Close the tab of drivers and click on USB port's name - Properties - Power Management. When you have completed this much, uncheck the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' checkbox. After selecting the Communications Port tab, scroll down to the Resources box. Then you have to click Enable Device - OK. Now, try to use the port again.Close the tab of Properties, right click on USB port's name, click Uninstall and restart your laptop. Now, plug a new device into the laptop's USB port and wait for the window to pop up. You can reinstall the software of the USB port by following the on-screen instructions.Restart your machine and press F1 when the manufacturer's name is displayed on screen. Browse through the various options, select 'Advanced' and press Enter. Scroll down and again press Enter on USB Support. When this is done press F10 for saving the setting and loading of OS. Tech support is always there for you from computer services.
